Summer School 2021
We were pleased to report we received government funding to the sum of £7189.89 to support a summer school during the summer of 2021. We invited all our New Year 7 students to participate in our Summer School during the summer holidays. This was a total number of 240 students and of this 240, 164 students attended. Students attended in form groups and spent their day working with not only their new form but also their form tutor and Head of Year, providing them the opportunity to form new friendships before starting at Harper Green and to help break down barriers to enable them to have a smooth transition to Harper Green. We expected all students to attend to enable them to understand the Harper Green way and learn what is meant by being ‘HARPER’.
Students had the opportunity to engage, listen and respect during different activities, focusing on key skills needed during the transition from primary school such as resilience and teamwork as well as focusing on key aspects of Harper Green life including our House System. Students were also able to navigate the school site whilst other students were not present enabling them to find important locations including the year team area, restaurants and toilets.
Summer School was a fantastic success , student attendance was high and both staff and students alike thoroughly enjoyed getting to know one another before beginning their Harper Green journey the following week.
